WHO WE ARE

In 1999, Dr. Dennis Orgill and Dr. Robert Demling, surgeons at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston MA, perceived the need for better educational information about burn and wound care on the Internet.  Leslie DeSanti, R.N., a burn and wound care specialist, recognized the power of the Internet in educating nurses.   In our hospital, the Internet was becoming available at the bedside and nurses and surgical residents began using Internet resources to rapidly retrieve clinically relevant information.  As we gave presentations on burn care to a variety of audiences, we would often prepare notes or manuals for review.  Although helpful, these were too often misplaced and not used.  Placing this information on the Internet in an easy to remember domain name, would be an important resource to clinicians.
